Centric
art series to feature Scot Euan MacDonald
By

Summer Forty-Niner
Scottish
artist Euan MacDonald will be featured at
the 64th display of the Centric series at
the University Art Museum Aug. 26 through
Oct. 12.
The
Centric series was started in 1981. Its
goal was to show off individual works by
artists that didn't have any previous exposure
in the greater Long Beach area.
Macdonald,
who has shown his work in San Francisco,
Vancouver, Toronto, Alberta, Tokyo, Brussels,
Munich, Sydney and Dunedin, New Zealand,
now works in Los Angeles. His exhibit at
the Art Museum will be his third showing
here in Southern California.
Macdonald's
art consists of video images in which he
captures drawings, paintings and sculptures.
He likes to examine technology and its affects
on the images that he portrays. Macdonald
uses video to capture his images in a way
that will spark different emotions from
the viewer. In one of his other exhibitions
entitled "In Light," which is
currently on display in Ontario, Canada,
Macdonald captured three different ice cream
trucks. The trucks were facing one another
at a three-way stop, each playing different
music-box jingles.
