Summer
action found in theaters

Summer On-line Forty-Niner
Action
movies have been showing up this summer
in full force. The two most recent headliners
in this slue if action films are “Terminator
3: The Rise of the Machines” and “Charlie’s
Angels: Full Throttle.”
“Charlie’s Angels” offers action and sexy
shots of the leading women Cameron Diaz,
Lucy Liu, Drew Barrymore, and Demi Moore.
The movie is entertaining and contains action
scenes that deserve to be seen on a big
screen. It must be said that this movie
stretches believability beyond the loose
interpretations of other spy movies like
James Bond.
Countless sexual innuendos and cliché
shots seemed to take away from the plot’s
seriousness. The first film seemed more
grounded with plot development and a Bond-type
believability. “Full Throttle” seemed to
throw these two elements out and just go
lavish. If you are looking for a light action
and girl-power movie go see this one, but
a matinee would be your best bet.
Swarzenneger
is back terminating
“Terminator 3: The Rise of the Machines”
is a well-done film. Arnold Swarzenneger
is back to his arguably most famous role
as the Terminator. The second film seemed
to have had the story wrapped up tight,
which lead many to feel adding a third film
might not present a believable transition.
T3 pulls it off however, offering a convincing
story that re-opens the Terminator franchise
and possibly Swarzenneger’s career.
The new Terminator, the T-X Terminatrix
played by Kristanna Loken, is a strong,
ass-kicking killer that is sent back to
kill John Conner and his lieutenants. On
several occasions, Loken gets plowed through
walls, but promptly gets up with a grin
and then belts Swarzenneger across the room.
Claire Danes, who plays Kate Brewster, debuts
in the Terminator series as the future lieutenant
and wife of John Conner, played by Nick
Stahl. The T-800 Terminator’s mission is
to protect Conner and Brewster because they
become the leaders of the human resistance
against the machines.
The film makes valid points with our reliance
on machines and sheds light on possible
pandora’s box type scenarios that can come
from our reliance. It presents a viewpoint
and the story line that ties up all the
loose ends while throwing in humor and fantastic
action sequences. The film reminds people
why they enjoyed the first Terminator films
so much.
