U.S. should grant legitimized support
for Israel
I
am writing in response to the editorial,
“No Money For Israel” published in the May
5 issue. I found it so ironic that the writer
claimed that supporting Israel results in
the killing of American citizens because
Palestinian terrorist organizations have
killed dozens and dozens of American citizens
for decades.
Since 1968, Palestinian terrorists have
murdered at least 92 Americans, including
Robert F. Kennedy by the Palestinian assassin
Sirhan Sirhan. Also, at last year’s Hebrew
University attack in Jerusalem, four out
of the seven students killed were Americans.
It is truly sad that Rachel Corrie and many
Palestinians have been killed as well, and
my heart goes out to them, but the numbers
clearly show that as far as American citizens
go, Palestinian terrorism has taken the
lives of nearly 100 Americans. The specific
acts of terror and the names of the Americans
who have been killed can be viewed at http://avpv.tripod.com/AmericanVictims.html
The United States should support Israel
because they are the only democracy in the
Middle East, and the only country where
women are treated equally to men in the
entire region. After Sept. 11th, the United
States knows what it is like to be victimized
by terrorism, so they have every right to
support a country that has been terrorized
by Palestinian suicide bombers, and to support
a country that has been trying to stop the
same terrorists that have been killing Americans
for 35 years.
