Cal
State Long Beach President Robert C. Maxson
was declared “University President of the
Year” by the California State Student Association
Tuesday afternoon.
Members of CSSA based their selection for
the honor on an open nomination process.
A student from Cal State Hayward nominated
President Maxson.
The decision was based on a series of encounters
with the president in regards to his ability
to communicate with students. Nominations
were then defended by a one-to-two-minute
speech by the sponsor.
The CSSA Board of Directors then made the
decision. Four Cal State University presidents
were nominated.
“President Maxson is genuine in his approach,”
Danny Vivian, president of Associated Students
Inc. said. “He is honest in his words and
he gets to know you as a person.”
This is the third year President Maxson
has received the honor.
