Student
IDs are taking on a new look at Cal State
Long Beach.
Donna Soto, ID Card Services manager, told
the Associated Student Senate Wednesday
about plans to introduce the new cards.
“We’re going to be recarding the campus,”
she said.
Along with the makeover, the new cards will
sport new campus ID numbers for all students.
“The current ID card number looks strangely
like a social security number, which it
can’t do anymore,” she said.
The cards will be issued to all students
beginning on April 21 in preparation for
the June 1 deadline when the new campus
identification numbers will be initiated.
Students will need to visit the ID Card
Services office to receive the new cards.
The ID Card Services office is currently
being refurbished with printer, system and
software upgrades to handle the influx of
students.
“We’ll be open our normal hours,” Soto said.
“If we need to stay later, we’ll do that.
We’ll try to accommodate everyone.”
ID Card Services is using a new type of
software called PeopleSoft, which necessitated
the change.
