Summer
is almost here. Time to throw way the books
and head to the beach. Those who enjoy laughter
can check out the Summer Comedy Festival
presented by Funny Farm Live at the West
End Theater in Los Alamitos.
The
festival consists of a new series of live
comedy hosted and produced by comedian Allan
Katz. Each show has a separate theme, featuring
seven or more comedians with different styles.
One
of those comics is Mark Wilde, who has been
doing comedy for over twenty years and will
be appearing on the “Down and Dirty” show.
“I
pride myself on my ability to shock the
audience,” Wilde said. “The idea is to push
the envelope. You do that by having political
and racial views. As a young comic I didn’t
have any political or racial views. So,
my roots are in filthy comedy.”
Katz
is the creator of Funny Farm T.V.; a comedy
show he created several years ago on Long
Beach T.V. He said he stopped doing the
show a few years ago and now does live comedy
shows.
“Live
is better. You have more freedom to say
things that you can’t say on T.V. like the
F-word,” Katz said.
All
shows begin at 9 p.m. Tickets are $6 at
the door and if a student tells a joke,
a discount is offered.
“I’m
making it affordable so college kids can
go,” Katz said. “If you tell a joke when
you buy your ticket you get a dollar off.”
