Opinion

  • Our View: What now for the Gold State
So it is finally over. For months California has been alternating between being the laughing stock and some sort of freaky sideshow of the nation.

  • Stick it to harassment
In January 2001, republicans around the country rejoiced as Bill Clinton, the infamous womanizing democratic president, left the Oval Office, making the position available to someone who would "restore honor, integrity, and decency" to the nation.

  • Voters blind to truth
I am sitting here tonight in sheer disgust as I watch the recall election with 9 percent of the votes counted with the Terminator in the lead with 50 percent of those votes.

  • Letter to the editor: Catholics not anti-womyn
Many people, including Ms. Sawyer in her Sept. 18 editorial "Open Up the Priesthood," are strongly misled in what the church teaches and believes.

  • Putting the real back into reality
Go ahead. Admit it. You watch MTVs the Real World. As an avid viewer of the juggernaut's most prized possession -- with the exception of its drug-overdosing, sympathy-yearning, scum-with-money Osbournes -- I cannot say that this is, in fact, a world of reality.

Sports

  • Top teams to play at Pyramid
Two volleyball teams will enter The Pyramid this weekend, each with a share of the Big West Conference lead, and one will exit the building on top.

  • Jackson hints that Jordan could replace Bryant
With speculation swirling around Los Angeles Lakers superstar Kobe Bryant's status for the upcoming season, Lakers' coach Phil Jackson has said that he would consider bringing in his ex-player with Chicago Bulls, Michael Jordan.
