Speeches-smeeches
Huntington,
W. Va. ((U-wire) -- Sunday night, television
sets across America played host to President
George W. Bush as he addressed the American
people. His three-fold purpose was to inform
the American people about the "War
on Terror," request more cooperation
from the United Nations in the war effort
and finally, to ask the American people
for $87 billion to help him in his crusade.
According to Bush, this money will be used
to help cover "military and intelligence
operations in Iraq, Afghanistan and elsewhere."
He also said the budget request will support
the American commitment to rebuild Iraq
and Afghanistan.
This
money is also going to be used to build
schools in war-torn areas in Iraq. The American
educational system is woefully under-financed
and we think it would be to the benefit
of the United States to spend that money
domestically by improving the reading, writing
and arithmetic skills of American children.
