I just wanted to say that I thought it was
really great that Associated Students Inc.
was able to have Arnold Schwarzenegger speak
to our student body. I am not at this time
a supporter of Arnold, but I thought it
was a great opportunity for myself to hear
what he was all about on a first hand basis.
However,
I was not pleased with some of the behavior
that occurred in the crowd. Now I am an
advocate of free speech but I do believe
it should be done in a respectful manner.
I heard some people discussing among themselves
what to yell at Arnold as he walked past
them and from what I heard, it was going
to be about his family's lineage.
I
also did not think it appropriate to throw
things, as it is something that elementary
school students do. I was under the impression
that since we are a diverse student body
more respect would be shown to our guest
who did not have to make an appearance.
I
think it is sad that a few students displayed
this despicable behavior, yet it reflects
poorly on the rest of us. I hope that in
the future people would think more about
how their actions reflect on all who attend
this great university.
