Letters
to the editor: Gourmet dorm
In
reading your Oct. 29 article "Students:
CSULB Dorm Food is Far From Gourmet,"
I'm surprised that you wrote that not one
advocate of the dorm menu can be found.
I'm certain that of you look hard enough,
you can find a number of advocates of the
meals, including me and some of my friends.
Let me respond to the alleged lack of variety
of the foods. It's simply not true. They
give us numerous food choices. Just for
breakfast, you can choose from rotating
menu of meals, bagels, sandwiches, fruits
and cereal. The quality, of course, cannot
be compared to restaurant chains and home-cooking,
but they are not "poor" or "inedible"
at all, but most are quite good and delicious.
It was just so disappointing how people
continually complain about it. I remember
my first day there I met someone who told
me that last year, after he tasted the food,
he wanted to leave. Well, after I've just
seen the whiners I'm sharing the dorms with,
I want to leave.
