• SANTA ANA (AP) -- A California appeals court Tuesday postponed a hearing to determine whether Orange County's district attorney has jurisdiction to try the man accused of the Los Angeles area murders of racing legend Mickey
Thompson and his wife.

• SANTA CRUZ (AP) -- A handcuffed man arrested for crashing his own car Tuesday morning surprised a California Highway Patrol officer by climbing into his squad car and driving away.

• SOLEDAD (AP) -- Convicted child molester Brian DeVries will leave his trailer on prison grounds Tuesday and head into town to register at the police department.

• PASADENA (AP) -- A man accused of running over a woman outside a radio station where a crowd was gathered to see singer Justin Timberlake has pleaded no contest to gross vehicular manslaughter while intoxicated, prosecutors said.

• SANTA CLARITA (AP) -- The centuries-old oak tree that became the center of attention for environmentalists last year will be moved by a huge trailer likely by mid-January, a representative for the developer said.

• GOLDEN, Colo. (AP) -- A Westerner who helped draft the federal energy bill is forming a group to lobby for increased natural gas drilling in the Rockies.

• LAS VEGAS (AP) -- Gambling giant MGM Mirage Inc. reported a 32 percent drop in third-quarter profits, blaming the dip on lucky gamblers and redevelopment costs, the company announced Tuesday.

• VAIL, Colo. (AP) -- With competition heating up between ski resorts and airlines serving Colorado, Frontier Airlines and Vail Resorts have announced a partnership to give some fliers unlimited round-trip flights and skiing for one lump sum.

• TEHRAN, Iran (AP) -- Iran agreed Tuesday to suspend uranium enrichment and give inspectors unrestricted access to its nuclear facilities as demanded by the U.N. watchdog agency, a step that could ease the standoff over fears Iran is seeking to build nuclear weapons.

• NIAGARA FALLS, Ontario (AP) -- A man who went over Niagara Falls with only the clothes on his back and survived will be charged with illegally performing a stunt, Niagara Parks Police said Tuesday.
