up:
Sexual assault- Last week, the On-line Forty-Niner
reported a case where a female had been
assaulted on Sept. 25. The case is still
under investigation but the victim does
not want to do anything about the issue.
Both parties consumed alcohol at the time
of the assault, which was not mentioned
in last week's crime log.
Tuesday,
Sept. 30
Possible
drunk in public- A male was reported to
be drunk on the corner of Atherton and Bellflower.
When University Police arrived to the scene,
no one was found.
Fire- A smoke detector was set off when
a Parkside Commons resident sprayed pesticides
in the room. The smoke alarm went off when
it detected the pesticide and not smoke.
Wednesday,
Oct. 1
Theft-
A woman reported that someone had entered
her dorm room and stole her wallet. Shirts
and a keyboard were found damaged. The suspect/s
remain/s at large.
Grand Theft- A $600 bike helmet was stolen
in the afternoon. The helmet was a blue
Arari with dragons.
Food tampering- A female dorm resident went
to the dining hall. When she was eating,
she began to experience an irritation in
her throat. A laboratory analyzed the material
that she had consumed. The presence of hand
soap detergent was evident in a bottle of
honey that the victim had used. The other
bottles in the same batch were tested, but
nothing was found. Whether the tampering
was accidental is still unclear at this
point.
Thursday,
Oct. 2
Disturbance-
A call was made to University Police after
a woman heard "strange noises"
coming from a bathroom stall in the women's
restroom in the Engineering Building. She
said it sounded like a male. The woman and
a classmate went back to the restroom during
their break and found that the toilet had
been tampered with and vomit was all over
the floor.
Hit and run- The driver of a 2000 Ford Mustang
was cited for hitting a 1995 Acura Integra
and fleeing from the site of the accident
as well as operating the vehicle without
a license. The vehicle was impounded and
the owner, different from the driver, was
also cited for allowing a non-licensed driver,
which he was aware of, operate his vehicle.
Friday,
Oct. 3
Cite
and release- The owner of a 2000 Jaguar
was stopped by University Police for having
tags that had expired over a year ago. The
vehicle was towed away and the 34-year-old
male was also found to be without a driver's
license. He was cited and released.
Monday,
Oct. 6
Hit
and run- The owner of a Mazda reported significant
damage to the driver's side of his or her
vehicle. There weren't any suspects or witnesses
to account for the crime.

Capt.
Skipworth says: "It is better to stay
at the scene of the accident than it is
to run."
Too
many students feel that they can flee from
an accident without repercussions, but someone
might have witnessed the accident and report
it to the police. Stay, exchange insurance
information and let the companies handle
it.
It
turns out better in the long run.
