Monday,
September 8
Assault/
Battery- A clothing vendor was assaulted
when she attempted to retrieve stolen clothes
from a female suspect's purse. The vendor
sustained a small scratch on her hand as
the suspect fled the scene of the crime.
The suspect remains outstanding.
Fire-
Officers and fire department responded to
a trash can fire outside the University
Student Union. "There wasn't any evidence
to suspect that it was an arson related
case," University Police Captain Skipworth
said. "It could have been an accidental
ignition of the contents of the trash can."
Nonetheless, the fire was put out.
Auto
burglary report- A vehicle was parked in
Lot 20 from Sept. 3 to Sept. 8. Sometime
over the weekend, the vehicle was broken
into by unknown means. The loss was estimated
at $200. Contents included: a Fastrak device,
CDs and a parking permit.
Wednesday,
September 10
Attempted
suicide- A 24-year-old-male went into the
Student Health Center claiming to attempt
suicide. He was fit to be released
after examination and assessment. He was
referred to a psychologist.
Thursday,
September 11
Assault/battery-
A male victim was walking with a female
when a male suspect came from behind and
grabbed the back of the victim's neck. The
suspect reached under his jersey and threatened
the victim's life. The suspect then grabbed
the female and dragged her into Lot 14.
Later, an officer called the female suspect
and she explained that the suspect was her
boyfriend who was joking around with the
male victim. The male victim would like
to press charges.
Marijuana
complaint- Officers received a marijuana
complaint near the L- Building of Parkside
Commons. Upon arriving to the location,
there was no remnant odors or evidence of
marijuana usage.
Friday,
September 12
Fire-
The Long Beach Fire Department responded
to a possible car fire. It turned out to
be an overheating Saturn with smoke coming
out from under the hood.
Saturday,
September 14
Annoying
phone calls- Rude young adults were heard
laughing in the background when university
police answered a phone call made from a
pay phone. An officer was sent to the location
only to find that the "annoying phone
call" assailants were gone.
Sunday,
September 15
Auto
burglary report- A green Honda Accord was
broken into. The burglary occurred between
9:50 and 11:05 a.m. A CD stereo was stolen
with an estimated value of $200.
