"Loon"
Loon
***
Bad Boy After being featured on many songs
over the last couple of years, New York
native Loon has finally come out with
his self-titled debut album.
As
a member of the P. Diddy, camp the album
was sure to have at least one song with
P. Diddy in it. "Can't talk to her"
was not one of my favorites, and the album
could have done without it. An array of
head-bobbing beats on the album keep listeners
interested in what comes next. The musical
expertise of popular artists such as Missy
Elliot, Kelis and Trina are featured on
"Loon."
Although
Loon is a rap artist his album has an
R&B feel. "How you want that,"
a hit single off of the album featuring
Kelis, is a great song to get up and groove
to. It keeps you moving without being
ready to change to the track before the
song is over.
Loon
brings us back a couple of years with
"Things you do," featuring Aaron
Hall; not too bad for a 19-track debut
album.

"Everything
to Everyone"
Barenaked Ladies
*
Reprise The Barenaked Ladies have come
out with its third and hopefully last
album of its career. "Everything
to Everyone" proves the band's inability
to produce a song worthy of listening
to the whole way through.
The
lyrics make absolutely no sense, and the
music that accompanies the lyrics isn't
much better either.
The
lead singer's cartoon animated voice doesn't
compliment the more serious songs on the
album. The songs with catchy beats and
somewhat descent melodies are about shopping
and chimpanzees.
This
Canadian-pop alternative band has been
around making albums since the late '80s
and at a very slow pace. You would think
that with all of the time in between albums
they would be able to come up with at
least one more hit like the one that made
them popular in the first place.
If
you were previously a Barenaked Ladies
fan, brace yourself for disappointment,
and if you like the album's current single,
"Another Postcard" that has
gotten some radio play, that doesn't mean
that the rest of the album is going to
have the same success.
