'Jeepers Creepers 2' corny not scary

By Andrew Italia
The Diamondback

COLLEGE PARK, Md. (U-Wire) -- Sitting through the 103-minute torture chamber of "Jeepers Creepers 2" will leave you speechless.

Those of you who suffered through the first disappointing film, know that not only was it a waste of its $10 million budget, it was also merely a compilation of every boring and overdone horror flick device.

"Jeepers Creepers 2" opens with a bus full of teenagers driving down a dark and overly eerie, country road.

To set off the action, one airhead, Minxie, has a foreboding dream of the killings, while the rest of the crew remains distracted by a completely hollow and boring racial argument, probably included to give the film a dash of credibility. It fails miserably.

Much like its doomed adolescent stars, this sequel will struggle to survive itself, only this time in the box office.

In this film we are treated to blatant and repetitive viewing of the creature (returning Jonathan Breck in a "Predator" wannabe slot), thus taking away any slight semblance of real terror the monster ever had.

In addition to the failure of the monster to incite fear, the film also fails to deliver any explanation of who the monster is and where it came from. Instead of substance, the sequel delivers corny special effects and ridiculous plot twists.

Writer and director Victor Salva delivers the only scary moment when the film ends with a setup for a third "Jeepers Creepers." Now that is a truly terrifying thought.
