In such a short time the Long Beach Queen Mary's "Shipwreck" has joined the ranks of "Knott's Scary Farm" and "Six Flags' Fright Fest," as one of the premier places to go to get the life scared out of you during the Halloween season.

The Queen Mary is said to be filled with spirits that still haunt the ship and its visitors to this day, so why not have a haunted house to rile up the spirits even more. What makes Shipwreck unique is the fact that three of the seven spine-chilling mazes actually take you through the ship itself.  It gives you an eerie sense that has to be experienced to describe.

The "Haunted Hull of Horrors," which might be the scariest of all the mazes, takes you through the engine room with tight corridors, long dark hallways and several things distract attention away from the monsters who are ready to jump out and scare you at any moment.

At one moment you think you see a monster on its way to scare you or the unsuspecting soul behind you; but then you turn and look back, and what was once there is now gone.

The most interesting maze that shipwreck offers you is the "House of Hallucinations"in 3-D. No other park has ever attempted this.  Upon entering the maze an attendant gives you a pair of 3-D glasses for you to wear while walking through.

What happens next is unbelievable, you walk through and you see something that seems far away, then next thing you know its right in your face, breathing down your neck.  Everything in this maze is in 3-D; the costumes, the make up of the monsters and the scenery that you encounter when walking through.

It is in this maze that I encountered two monsters that scared me from both sides so badly, that my 3-D glasses flew off and I was left dumbfounded.  If you need to take a break from being scared, located at the end of all three mazes that are on the ship is a dance floor that plays music all night.
