Deconna
debuts at Long Beach State

Long Beach State
athletics has been going through some recent changes with
the addition of a new assistant media relation’s director.
Chris Deconna was hired as the assistant media relation’s
director after spending the past year as the sports information
director as Metro State College in Denver, Colo.
Deconna graduated from the University of Colorado in with
a degree in communications. Deconna worked two years as an
undergraduate in the CSU Media Relations Office. He
was an intern with the Los Angeles Sparks in the summer of
2000 and then he moved back to Colorado as the director of
media relations for the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference.
In June of 2001 Deconna accepted the sports information director
position at Metro State and coordinated every aspect of the
media relations for Metro State’s 10 varsity sport teams,
including the mend’s basketball team which won the 2002 NCAA
Division Championship.
Deconna will begin his duties on July 15th and will work with
the 49er women’s volleyball, men’s volleyball and softball
teams.
