Marina Greens attracts red hot chili

The 21st  annual Chili-Cook Off attracted approximately 40,000 people to the Long Beach Marina Greens last weekend. The yearly event changed names from Beach Fest back to the Long Beach Chili Cook-Off after three years under the Beach Fest moniker.

Celebrities and citizens alike attended the two-day event, which offered goods, services and live music. Rock artist Bob Mould and blues band Booker T. and the MG's headlined the day-long bill Saturday and Michael Franti and Spearhead closed out the Sunday Rock 'N' Reggae festival along with K.D.T.U., an acid jazz band.

The chili contest, held Sunday, was the biggest draw, but many people attended Saturday and were treated to a salsa and buffalo wing competition. Both days' events lasted through the evening and the Queen Mary provided an artistic backdrop to the setting.
