Carnival
attracts weekenders
By Jessica Strickland
Special to the Summer On-line Forty-Niner
St. Maria Goretti
Church of Long Beach held it’s annual carnival last weekend.
The local community enjoyed rides, games, food, and live music
during the warm summer days.
Local bands including The Bredrin Daddys, Badfish and others
provided free musical entertainment for all ages. Local schools
such as St. Joseph’s High School and companies such as Cirvello’s
bar provided booths with food and drinks for sale. Beer and
wine were available for guests.
“It’s great to see our community uniting and enjoying the
great entertainment,” said Jennifer Moons, student at Cal
State Long Beach. “My parents worked one of the booths and
I saw many friends and familiar faces that I hadn’t seen in
a long time. It was a great way to spend a Saturday night
because it was so close to home.”
Rides tickets were 75 cents each with each ride costing between
two and three tickets. Screams and laughter could be heard
from rides of all speeds and sizes. Friends and families of
the church worked the booths while welcoming all visitors.
