49ers finish second -- Robert Stewart scored five goals
as The Beach women's water polo team beat Hawaii, 6-3, and lost
to Loyola Marymount, 7-6, Sunday in the final day of the UC
San Diego Tournament in San Diego.
Stewart and Ashley Richardson accounted for all the 49ers goals
against Hawaii, scoring three goals each.
Against the LMU, Angelica Garcia and Stewart scored two goals
each for The Beach, but four goals in the second period by the
Lions proved to be LBSU's undoing.
Stewart finished with nine goals and Richardson had eight in
The Beach's four games during the tournament. The 49ers are
now 2-2.
Tennis rebounds
-- Anastasia Dvornikova, Lindsey Marvel, Alena Dvornikova
and Christina Son all recorded singles victories for LBSU,
which bounced back from a loss Saturday to beat Colorado State,
5-2, at the Boise State Tournament in Boise, Idaho.
Marvel and Son teamed to get a win in doubles. Beach teammates
Cheryl Kindred and Kelly Chan also registered a doubles victory.
The 49ers open Big West Conference play Friday at UC Riverside.
