Paul McAnulty's
watershed season got even better Monday when he was named
the Big West Conference Player of the Week.
The Long Beach State first baseman/designated hitter hit .467
with three home runs and nine RBIs while scoring six runs
to help the Dirtbags to a 3-1 record. McAnulty had a 1.067
slugging percentage and a .600 on-base percentage during the
stretch.
McAnulty has a .374 average this season with eight homers
and 46 RBIs, and has hit .516 with 12 runs scored and 17 RBIs
over the last two weeks.

Three honored for
The Beach -- The Mountain Pacific Sports Federation handed
out its conference awards for women's water polo Monday and
LBSU was honored like never before.
Freshman Roberta Stewart was named to the All-MPSF first team,
sophomore Angelica Garcia garnered honorable mention accolades
and LBSU coach Rick Azevedo was named co-Coach of the Year.
LBSU women's water polo had never had more than one player
named all-conference or had a coach of the year.
The Beach finished with a 19-13 record, the most wins in school
history, and closed the season ranked No. 4 in the nation.
Stewart led the 49ers with 65 goals and 37 steals, and is
the first LBSU player to be selected to the first team. Garcia
was second for The Beach with 53 goals.
Munoz to play for
USA -- Freshman men's volleyball player Paul Munoz has been
selected to the USA Junior National Team that will play this
summer.
The team consists of 18 players and will play at the NORCEA
Zone Championships to be held at the end of July in Canada.
