Staff reports
New Long Beach
State men's basketball coach Larry Reynolds took the first
steps toward next season by naming two assistants to complete
his coaching staff.
Bill Carr was named associate head coach and Reggie Howard
was named as an assistant Wednesday. The duo, along with LBSU
holdover assistant Brent Bargen, round out Reynolds' 49er
staff for the 2002-2003 season.
Carr, a native of Glendale, spent the last three seasons as
the head coach of Spring Hill College in Mobile, Ala. Carr
compiled a 84-23 record and led Spring Hill to three NAIA
National Tournament appearances during his tenure. Carr was
also named Gulf Coast Athletic Conference Coach of the Year
during the 1999-2000 season.
Prior to coaching at Spring Hill, Carr was an assistant at
San Francisco State for nine seasons. Carr graduated from
SFSU in 1991.
Howard has been an assistant at UC Riverside the last two
seasons and was an assistant the previous three seasons under
Reynolds at Cal State San Bernandino. Howard graduated from
UCR in 1991.
