Gladys Iwuaba and
Jon O'Neil each won events, and several other Long Beach State
track and field athletes had strong showings Sunday at the
Steve Scott Track and Field Invitational at UC Irvine.
Iwuaba won the women's triple jump at 40-7 3/4 -- nearly two
feet better than any other competitor -- and O'Neil took first
in the men's discus with a toss of 197-7. O'Neil also finished
fourth in the shot put at 60-10 3/4.
