CSULB gears up for
A.S.I. elections
Some of you may be interested in learning more about the Cal
State Long Beach Spanish Club. The club promotes cultural
relations with the campus at large and helps students to develop
their Spanish language skills. The Spanish club meets on a
regular basis in the afternoon, so if you would like more
information, feel free to contact the club president, Giselda
Gordon, at ggordan@csulb.edu
or Professor Gasior in the Spanish department. I think this
club has the potential to be one of the premier student organizations
on campus. Check it out!
More good news for CSULB ... students Kristine Clancy and
Audrey Mink just won the 2002 National Parliamentary Tournament
of Excellence and were crowned the National Champions at Regis
University in Colorado for their Olympian debate skills. This
tournament is structured like the NCAA national championship
tournament. Thirty five of the best debate teams in
the country, including UC Berkley, Colorado State and Texas
Tech, competed over a two-day period for the championship.
Finally, the Associated Students will be conducting elections
for their executive officers and for members of the A.S.I.
senate. Students will be able to vote for their choice for
the positions of A.S.I. president, vice president and treasurer,
as well as for senators for each of the colleges and at-large
senators. The elections will take place today, Tuesday and
Wednesday. There will be several polling locations on campus,
including the residence halls and the turnaround near the
Foundation Building. It is very important that all students
participate in selecting their representatives. For additional
information, please contact the A.S. offices at 985-5241.
Go Beach!
