So
long seniors -- adios
I hope you have plans for a great summer vacation. I want
to wish all of you good luck on your final exams and class
projects.
For those of you who are graduating this month, my warmest
congratulations. We're going to miss you. I look forward to
seeing you at the Commencement ceremonies and meeting your
family members. I hope all our new 49er graduates stay in
touch and continue to attend as often as possible the arts
and sports events sponsored by your alma matter. Cal State
Long Beach is a very good university, and I know that the
education you received here will bring you abundant dividends
throughout your lifetime.
For those of you who are scheduled to return next semester
but are not planning to take classes here during the summer,
I look forward to seeing you in the fall. I know how many
of you will be getting summer jobs or taking classes at our
local community colleges, and I hope you make the most of
those valuable learning experiences as well.
I'm very excited about the many graduating celebrations planned
for next few weeks -- and at the same time I cannot wait for
the fall semester to begin. It's been a wonderful school year,
the kind that faculty relish. Throughout the semester faculty
drop by to tell me how proud they are of our students. Daily,
students let me know about the interesting presentations and
research projects with which they're involved or they stop
by to ask me to attend their special events and performances.
Again, I wish all 49ers a fabulous summer. And, in closing,
I wish to send a special thank you and farewell to the talented
men and women who work at the On-line Forty-Niner.
Go BEACH.
