Terror
threats keep coming
The Washington Times reported Monday that United States intelligence
sources have learned of a supposed terrorist attack against
an American nuclear power plant on July 4.
The threat came to light from the continued interrogation
of al Qaeda lieutenant Abu Zubaydah, considered to be a top
aide to Osama bin Laden.
Zubaydah has been consistently feeding information on supposed
attacks since he was arrested in Pakistan in March. Zubaydah
has also spoke of plans to attack "soft" targets
in the United States, including grocery stores and shopping
malls.
Threats have been coming in consistently and the government
is continuing to release warnings of possible attacks. But
even nothing has come from any of the threats so far. No shopping
malls have been bombed. No planes have been hijacked.
The government continues to release warnings of terrorist
threats but in reality they are doing nothing more than helping
the terrorists. The main goal of a terrorist, aside from inflicting
harm, is causing terror and fear.
Zubaydah told U.S. intelligence sources that the nuclear power
plant bombing was going to be performed by a cell of two terrorists
-- one an American citizen and the other an African national.
But government sources believe that they have had one of these
supposed terrorists in captivity since the immigration sweep
following Sept. 11.
The United States government must be incredibly careful in
the warnings they release to law enforcement and to the general
public. By releasing every random threat they are only assisting
in spreading fear and not limiting attacks.
