Students looking
for assistance in writing can look no further than the Writer's
Resource Lab, located in the Language Arts Building, Room
212.
The WRL uses tutors
to assist students in building their writing skills and guiding
them through each step of the writing process.
Aside from tutoring,
the WRL also offers several hour-long workshops on topics
such as developing effective thesis statements, organization,
proofreading, editing and research.
Dates and times
for workshops are posted on the WRL's Web site, which can
be reached through the Cal State Long Beach main Web site.
The WRL staff of
tutors is made up of undergraduate and graduates students
who are headed toward careers in teaching writing at the high
school, community college and university level.
All are continuously
trained so as to keep up with their skills and to be aware
of current practices in tutoring and writing.
The Writer's Resource
Lab is keyed to tutoring for writing in any discipline. Tutoring
sessions are held mainly by appointment with a few "drop-in”
hours scheduled each week. Students can make an appointment
by calling the WRL at (562) 985-4329 or by dropping by their
office at LAB-212.
Hours for the WRL
are Mondays through Wednesdays, 9 a.m. to 9 p.m., Thursdays
9 a.m. to 5 p.m., Fridays 9 a.m. to noon and Saturdays 10
a.m. to 3 p.m.
