Grub on good eats
and tasty treats at The Beach
By Alisha Gomez

From Taco Bell
to Round Table Pizza, Cal State Long Beach is known for its
wide array of places to eat. Last semester, Starbucks joined
Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf and The Downstairs Cafe, taking
over as the preferred brand of coffee that all campus eateries
and shops will carry. In addition, Round Table Pizza opened
during finals of the fall semester, adding another big name
to CSULB.
Starting the day
off right with a good breakfast is easy on campus. The hot
spot for breakfast is the Outpost, located on the lower eastside
of campus. It is a hidden treasure because not many students
know that they make everything fresh: pancakes, eggs, breakfast
burritos, hashbrowns, croissant sandwiches, just about anything.
Fresh bagels and pastries are also served daily.
The Nugget on the
upper end of campus offers its own breakfast and The Coffee
Bean & Tea Leaf opens every morning bright and early ready
to serve coffees, lattes, pastries and more. Directly outside
of The Nugget is Culinary Wraps, with a healthy way to start
a person's day. Inside the University Dining Plaza is Krispy
Kreme Donuts, which also sells bakery goods. Carl's Junior
and the Downstairs Cafe in the University Student Union serve
breakfast also.
For lunch and dinner,
the options are limitless. The Downstairs Café, on
the first floor of the USU, serves a variety of sandwiches
for a reasonable price. The Outpost has some great soups and
hot fresh food like grilled cheese sandwiches, chili cheese
fries and hamburgers. There are big names in the USU like
Subway Sandwiches, Carl's Junior, El Pollo Loco, Robeks Juice
and Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf. Downstairs in the USU is Round
Table with all sizes of pizzas and salads to go with them.
The University Dining Plaza boasts Taco Bell, Chick Fil-A,
a sushi section, Boar's Head Deli, Tomassito's pasta bar,
Café Beach, Panda Express, the Center Court and Island
Oasis with smoothies. The Nugget, located next to the University
Dining Plaza, has a variety of sandwiches, burgers, pizza
and more on its menu as well as being the only place on campus
that serves beer.
Small but definitely
great is Culinary Wraps, which has great wraps, bowls and
salads. For treats and sweets, the Candy Counter inside the
USU has almost every kind of candy imaginable.
With such a wide
variety of options to choose for breakfast, lunch and dinner,
a person never has to order the same thing twice in one week.
