Cinco
De Mayo celebrated

The search for
how to spend your Cinco de Mayo has been found. The Queen
Mary, in Long Beach, is holding its first ever Cinco de Mayo
celebration on Sunday from 10 a.m. to midnight.
The campus will celebrate Cinco de Mayo Tuesday, May 7 no
the University Student Union Southwest Terrace with mariachi,
a chile-eating contest and a grito contest.
"There is something for all ages at the Cinco de Mayo
celebration," said Robin Wachner, The Queen Mary's public
relations director.
There will be a piñata break in the Exhibit Hall and
a carnival in the Events Park that will provide rides and
games for children's entertainment.
Adults can enjoy margarita specials accompanied by musical
entertainment in the Observation Bar from noon until midnight.
In the Exhibit Hall, Latino bands will provide live entertainment
from noon to 6 p.m.
You can also dance the night away in Club Verandah, where
a DJ will be spinning Salsa and Top 40 music from 3 p.m. until
midnight.
Starting at 8 p.m., a spectacular fireworks show that everyone
can enjoy will conclude the ceremony.
The price is $10 for adults and children between the ages
of 3 to 11 are free. This price includes the Cicno de Mayo
festivities, a self guided tour of the Queen Mary, as well
as the Ghosts & Legends show aboard the ships.

La Raza will sponsor the events on campus. The chile-eating
contest will see who can eat the most in the least amount
of time.
The grito contest is a traditional scream or yell.
