Alleged
burglar apprehended

The Long Beach
Police Department has made an arrest in the March burglary
at The Pyramid Sports and Special Events Center. Police arrested
Maliaka Dante Hill, 24, on April 21 on a charge of burglary.
University Police said Hill was a former employee of The Pyramid
and had been the primary suspect in the burglary investigation.
Hill is accused of breaking into The Pyramid box office and
stealing close to $83,000 in cash. Along with the arrest,
Long Beach Police recovered over $43,000 in cash as well as
furniture and electronic equipment believed to have been bought
with stolen money from Hill's home and car.
As a result of the joint investigation, the Long Beach Police
Department is pursuing additional burglary charges relating
to the theft of approximately $19,000 in cash from a business
in Jan. 2001 and the theft from a residence in March.
