Story and photos by Ida Thompson
Special for the Online Forty- Niner

Paul David, Fitness Manager for the Frog gym, here on the campus said, “ He’s excited that so many of CSULB staff employees are motivated and eager to make a change through fitness”. Frog’s gym is located here on campus www.clubone.com, (click on the Long Beach location) and has given CSULB staff employees the opportunity to tone up and become fit. The main goal of the class is to help employees maintain consistency in getting a reasonable amount of physical activity regardless of their fitness level and health history.

The class begins at 12:00 on Tuesday and Thursday, and is over at 12:45. The class also advises employees on nutrition and fitness habits. Handouts are distributed at each class meeting giving important information on fitness. You can locate the handout information at www.familycircle.com, click on the health and fitness menu. Other sources of information come from the Dietician and Nutrition department here on campus.

It is a 6-week program, the first session began March 5th and the second program will start May 7th. Jill Localszo, works in Staff Personnel Services, she is the person who deserves credit for initiating the program. Jill said, “There are some spots left for the 2nd 6 week walk and tone program, but there was a pretty long waiting list for the first class, so I am taking all of those people first.” Jill who is also an active participate in the class stated “The class is wonderful! I think fitness in the workplace is extremely important.

“Exercise has been proven to reduce stress, increase productivity, it helps keep employees motivated and it lets them know that we at Personnel Staff Services care about them” stated Jill Loscalzo. “Many of the staff members who never exercise has come out and are really benefiting from this program” she said. “We have all shapes and sizes there, all fitness levels and all ages,” responded Jill. “It’s been great! Paul from the gym has done a good job giving us a variety of exercises, we’re actually having fun while exercising!” exclaimed Jill Loscalzo. Jill Loscalzo can be reached at (562) 985-1764 if you are interested in joining the class.
