Wild
Oats sprouts in Long Beach soil
By Alisha Gomez

The Wild Oats VIP
sneak preview party Tuesday night could not have been more
appropriate as it enticed guests with its endless trays of
food and filled the empty stomachs of people packed in every
aisle of the natural foods market.
Those invited and those who stumbled on the party feasted
on an array of delicacies from fresh watermelon, cantaloupe,
grapes and chocolate-covered strawberries to an assortment
of cheeses and breads, to roast and turkey.
The new store at 6550 Pacific Coast Highway in Long Beach
went all out for the big night. Various product makers like
Fiji Natural Artesian Water provided mini samples of their
product for guests to enjoy.
While jazz music played in the background, people schmoozed
and munched, eyeing the aisles and aisles of natural and organic
foods.
The deli prepared turkey and roast for guests to make sandwiches
while the produce aisles were lined with samples of grapefruit
and orange slices. Everything was exquisite, especially the
roast.
No party is a party without sugarcane shrimp cocktail that
were so yummy with cocktail sauce.
The sushi bar put out a full spread with vegetarian and California
rolls. The California roll was made with fresh crabmeat, as
two girls in Japanese attire served it to guests. Edamame
soybeans accompanied the sushi along with fresh ginger, wasabi
and soy sauce.
The biggest hit was the ice cream in waffle cups and cones
that was being served. A little bit further down the aisle
were more enticing desserts like chocolate and carrot cakes
that accompanied chocolate-covered croissants and cookies.
Complimentary coffee and hot tea also were items guests enjoyed.
And, who could forget the bakery's mouth-watering desserts
like triple chocolate mousse cake and fruit tarts.
Wild Oats threw quite a soiree with sparkling apple cider
and crab cakes as an hors d'ourves. The store went all out
for this party and really gave guests and the community a
chance to see how great the store is. Everything was absolutely
delicious and the market is more than a market with its deli,
bakery, sushi bar, juice and Java bar, and kitchen. Looks
like Wild Oats is going to be very popular in this community.
