After consecutive road losses last weekend, the Long Beach State women’s volleyball team will look to rebound with home matches against Cal State Fullerton and UC Riverside.

49ersThe 49ers should have no trouble at The Pyramid against two struggling teams, playing CSUF (4-20, 0-11) on Friday at 7:30 p.m. and UCR (6-15, 2-9) on Saturday at 7:30 p.m.

The Beach (18-3, 7-3) dropped two spots in the national ranking to No. 9 in the American Volleyball Coaches Association poll and to fourth place in Big West Conference standings with last weekend’s losses.

The CSUF Titans have not won a match since early this season, dropping its last 18 matches, including a 3-1 loss to the 49ers on Oct. 5 in Fullerton. In addition, the 49ers also hold a 39-0 series record against the Titans dating back to 1983.

Fullerton is coming off of one of its best matches, almost playing well enough to end its 37-game losing streak against the University of the Pacific Tigers last weekend in Fullerton, but lost in five games.

On Saturday, The Beach will host a UCR team that lost in three games to LBSU on Oct. 4 in Riverside.

The Highlanders team snapped its own 10-game losing streak last weekend, beating Cal State Northridge in five games.

The Beach must play well in its remaining eight conference games to remain in the race for the Big West Conference championship. The Beach currently trails UCSB by three games and is tied with Cal Poly San Luis Obispo and UOP with three conference losses each.
