49ers top Czech team

From staff reports

Elisha ThomasThe match went the distance, but in the end the Long Beach State women’s volleyball team prevailed, edging the Czech Republic Club team in five sets, 30-27, 30-26, 20-30, 28-30, 15-13.

Monday night’s contest at The Pyramid was only an exhibition, which means it will not be recorded as official statistics or in the standings, but nonetheless the 49ers faced stern competition.

Marty Fiebert Kessie Doering and Brittany Hochevar led The Beach early in the match, but as the Czech Republic made its surge in the later games, LBSU’s Elisha Thomas sealed the victory for the 49ers.

Thomas hammered down six kills and tallied four blocks in the final game.
