The African Student Union demands apology
for an art show advertisement depicting symbol
of terrorism
This letter is in regards to the fliers
depicting images of a noose that have been
disseminated throughout campus advertising
the Graphic Design Junior Show. We, the
African Student Union, find these fliers
to be despicable, appalling and downright
outrageous. The image of a noose is a symbol
of terrorism and has negative repercussions
that have affected African-Americans adversely
throughout our history. We demand these
fliers to be removed from campus, and we
demand that an apology be issued to all
African-American organizations and all African-Americans
on campus. This is a culturally insensitive
act of racism that will not be tolerated.
We wish for this apology to be printed in
the On-line Forty-Niner.
