Letters
to the Editor - Reader responds to 9/11
column
In the Sept. 11 article, “United States
Not Infallible,” columnist Ryan Ritchie
took offense that a woman who lost a friend
on Flight 11 said: “I wish that we would
stop letting illegal immigrants into our
country for any reason.” I agree with this
woman, and believe most Californians agree,
with the exception of liberally biased media,
the eternal fools in Sacramento and other
cowardly politicians pandering to the “Hispanic
vote” without the guts to stand up for what
is right.
Note the woman said illegal immigrants.
Funny how liberals, so quick to condemn
legal freedoms (using tobacco, eating unhealthy
foods, owning firearms) suddenly become
blind to the law when it concerns matters
of national security.
I see no distinction between an illegal
alien sneaking across the border and a burglar
breaking into someone’s home. Unlike Mr.
Ritchie, I don’t think this attitude flows
from feelings of American superiority. It
has to do with right and wrong, which has
been missing from Liberal Brainwashing 101
for the past 40 years. If you’re trespassing
on someone else’s property, you’re committing
a crime. Period.
I agree when Mr. Ritchie claims to not be
a historian. If he were, he would know that
every flourishing culture (even the “evil
white man’s,” so fashionable to bash) did
so through exploration and acquiring new
territories, often by force. Before the
Europeans’ arrival, American Indian tribes
(who Mr. Ritchie is correct in assuming
are not indigenous) fought bloody battles
for land and other resources. It’s hypocritical
to judge past centuries by the comparatively
luxurious moral standards of today, when
doing the right thing is “obvious” and no
one starves by failing to act.
The U.S. may not be infallible, but to its
unseasoned detractors I say: Pick a better
country.
