p.m. - The CSULB Foundation will perform
a tree planting near the Foundation Building.
Noon
- President Robert C. Maxson and Academic
Senate Chairman Wayne Dick will briefly
speak at the Earl Burns Miller Japanese
Gardens. A musical selection of songs will
be performed by the University’s Symphony
Orchestra and Choir. The program will last
until 1 p.m. There will be shuttles
available at State University Drive near
Brotman Hall from 11:30 a.m. to 1: 30 p.m.
Noon
— As part of the Week of Welcome events,
the North Coast Singers from the Boys and
Girls Club of San Diego will perform patriotic
songs in the Southwest Terrace of the USU.
Students, staff and faculty are welcomed
to write a personal message on a banner
that will be later displayed in the USU.
7:30
p.m. - Victory Campus Fellowship will hold
a “Remembrance of 9/11” in the University
Student Beach Auditorium. Musicians will
be on hand for the event, and Tony Fetchel,
a motivational speaker, will provide for
the moment to reflect and honor those who
died.

— A Remembrance Vigil with Mayor Beverly
O’Neill and other speakers will be held
at the Civic Center Plaza, 333 W. Ocean
Blvd.
Donate
blood in Long Beach and receive free admission
to the Aquarium of the Pacific. Blood donation
locations include Arden Realty, 100 Oceangate,
Suite 400, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.; Long Beach
Public Library, 101 Pacific Ave., from 10
a.m. to 4 p.m.; St. Mary Medical Center,
1050 Linden Ave.
Nonperishable
food items will be collected for the Food
Bank of Southern California at the following
locations: Cesar E. Chavez Park, 401 Golden
Ave.; El Dorado Regional Park, 2800 N. Studebaker
Road; Houghton Park, 6301 Myrtle Ave.; Silverado
Park, 1545 W. 31st St.; Kaiser Permanente
Long Beach Medical Offices, 3900 E. Pacific
Coast Highway.
