LBPD search for suspect

Staff Reports

suspectA Hispanic male attempted to kidnap a 4-year-old girl from a daycare center playground around 5:15 p.m. Monday on Olive Avenue, according to a Long Beach Police Department press release.

The suspect pried open a locked chain-link gate and entered the playground where two young girls were playing, police said. The girls approached the man when he asked if he could show them something.

An assistant teacher from the daycare, who did not recognize the man, grabbed one of the girls back when the suspect tried to pull the girl toward his truck.

The suspect is described as having short, dark hair, 30 to 35 years old, approximately 5 feet 4 inches to 5 feet 9 inches tall with a small build driving a 1980s or 1990s white truck.

The police said they believe the man may have been involved in six similar incidents in the past month in Long Beach.

The Long Beach Police Department is asking anyone with information regarding these cases to contact Detective Russ Moss at (562) 570-6407.
