Students relieve stress at Frog’s

With the start of a new school year comes classes, exams, a lack of sleep and of course, stress.

Making time to exercise can be a great way to reduce stress and stay healthy. Frog’s Club One, located in The Pyramid, is a full service health club geared toward those interested in a fun variety of workouts, according to General Manager Anthony Macaluso.

Downstairs CafeWith free weights, group exercise classes, personal training and a cardio center, there is something for everyone, regardless of age or fitness level.

It’s not the equipment that sets Club One apart from other health clubs, but the atmosphere and the people, Macaluso said.

“We have really high customer service,” he said. “We know you by your name and you’re not just another member.”

Monthly and semester memberships are available for anyone interested. Many activities are available to members, including yoga, step classes, aqua workouts and stationary cycling or “spinning.”

Personal training is also offered at an additional cost.

For students who commute to school and have some time between classes, a quick workout can be a perfect way to spend the time.

“It’s more convenient [than other gyms] because it is right on campus,” junior biology major Megan Head said.

A member since the beginning of summer, Head said she plans to keep coming through the fall semester.

According to Head, advantages of a membership include unlimited use of the pool, shampoo, conditioner and lotion provided in the showers, and “getting to see lots of cute guys.”

Benefits for male members include a variety of equipment for all ability levels and trainers on hand for assistance.

“Compared to other gyms, Frog’s is really clean and the people are very friendly,” said Jonathan Sury, a junior biology major. “It’s never overcrowded and there is always enough room for everyone.”

After hearing about the health club from a friend, Sury said the one thing he likes best is that they provide towels for all members during each visit.

As a privately owned business, Club One is available to students, staff and the local community seven days a week.

During the school year, 50 percent of members are students, while 40 percent of members are students while school is out, Macaluso said.

Frog’s is open Monday through Friday from 5 a.m. to 10:30 p.m. and from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. on the weekends.

Anyone interested in joining Frog’s Club One can call for rates and additional information at 562-985-5995.
