Utopia created in Long Beach

At a passing glance the Utopia may appear to be just another street-side café. However, with a closer look, one will realize that it is anything but that.

utopiaStepping into Utopia I was engulfed by a warm, yet natural light that seemed to come from all around.  Romantic, but lively music played low in the background while a slight breeze gave the indoor restaurant an outdoor feel.

An aura of classy originality filled the moderately sized restaurant.

The art on the walls portrays a sense of creativity and peacefulness that matches the ambiance of the restaurant.

Given the choice to sit wherever you please, I selected one of the several small, two place tables, which was dressed quite elegantly with nicely folded napkins, a nice cloth, a small candle and beautiful flowers.

Without delay I was politely greeted and my drink order was taken by a business server.

Prices for a glass of wine ranged from about $3.50 to $10 with most selections more or less in the middle.

The coffee and glass of Merlot were very flavorful. Deciding to skip the appetizers I ordered from the list of entrées, which ranged in price from about $8 to $16.

The salad, included in the price of the entrée, was beautifully arranged and sprinkled with finely chopped purple cabbage to add color.  The dressing was of the house and gave the salad a zesty, fresh taste.

The entrée, Tequila Pollo, arrived just in time and was even more impressively arranged than the salad.  The vegetables were crisp and bright, the chicken was tender and juicy, and the rice made a perfect addition.  Everything appeared to be in its proper place, a picture perfect plate, and most importantly it tasted great.

The Utopia offers high-class quality and attractive surroundings for less money than would normally be expected. Overall, the Utopia is a highly recommendable place to dine.  It is absolutely perfect for a first date, or any special evening.    The Utopia is located at 445 E. First St. in Long Beach.  Lunch and dinner are served daily.
