Organizers
save space, time for less money

Tuesday
Since
the time change, I’ve found myself spending
more time indoors, which means I spend more
time in my condo.
Everyday I come home to the same story:
jeans thrown across the room, tops strewn
about, shoes and belts in every direction.
I haven’t even been home long enough to
sit down and already it’s a disaster area.
When I have finally cleared a place to sit
from what looks like the backstage of a
crazy fashion show, I know I have to stop
the mania that spawns from my closet like
clockwork. I want everything to have a place
so I can navigate within the monster, instead
of unleashing it every morning.
I have decided that I cannot be the only
one suffering from this plague, so I have
set a small budget and have made it the
topic this week. For everyone’s convenience,
I set out to Target. I consider this to
be among the best $20 I have ever spent.
The following are the items that have already
proved their worth.
The first item is a rod extender by StoreIt
for $4.99. The bar hangs from an existing
closet rod, providing additional space below.
This gives my clothes breathing room and
keeps everything hanging. I no longer have
to thrust everything aside and deal with
items falling off hangers.
The next treasure is a tie and belt rack
for $2.99, also by StoreIt. It’s a hanger-style
rack that doesn’t take up much room, yet
organizes like a charm. I can successfully
hang about 14 belts. Now they are all in
one place, hanging gracefully for me to
scan when outfit coordinating.
There is a pant hanger for $4.99. It has
the same hanger- style function with arms
that swing out so you can hang multiple
pairs of pants on one hanger. I can hang
five of my favorite pairs; thus saving me
time looking for them on the top shelf in
my folded denim section and preventing them
from all toppling down when I tug on the
stacks.
Lastly, a small three-drawer unit by Sterilite
for $5.99. This now houses knit hats, scarves,
mittens, camisoles, etc. If you’re
in the same mess I was in, scrounge up the
$20; it’ll be well worth it!
