Knott’s is monstrous this time of year

By Laurisa Franklin
On-line Forty-Niner

Knott’s Halloween Haunt is celebrating its 30th year in the scaring business and it is better than ever.  The monster mash is decked out in thousands of scary monsters turning eager visitors into easily scared prey.

Ghastly ghouls quickly greet visiters entering the park. Ghouls are everywhere and there are no safe places to hide.  The park is misted with fog and eerie music lingers in the background.

Knott’s sets up 11 differently themed mazes that are scattered throughout the park.  Six live shows, that star many scary creatures, to entertain guests with special effects and dancing.

For college students who are over 21, there is a fiesta beer garden.  The brews are limited and expensive, but the quiet black lit garden can make for a great escape from the terrorized screaming teenagers who run around the other areas of the park.

While the park is definately great scary fun, there are down falls.  Tickets are not cheap.  Pre-sale tickets are $38 and at the door they are $42.  The park also charges $10 for parking and all the nearby stores forbid visiters to park in their lots.

Knott’s Halloween Haunt will be open on Oct. 24 to 27, 29 to 31 and Nov. 1 to 2.  Hours of operation are 7 p.m. to 2 a.m. and from 7 p.m. to 1 a.m. on Sundays, Tuesdays and Thursdays. Students can get tickets at (714) 220-5200.
