Cal
State Long Beach students had the opportunity
to strut their stuff on stage during a fashion
show put on by Glamour on Campus Thursday.
The
Glamour on Campus tour, which visits 10
universities throughout the nation, offered
contests and prizes, free samples of beauty
products and a fashion show featuring student
models.
Glamour on Campus also held a guest video
jockey contest in which contestants had
an opportunity to win a three-day, two-night
trip to New York and be a guest VJ on the
College Television Network for a week.
The winner of the contest will be chosen
from contestants from the various campuses
the tour visits throughout the nation.
Jim Striebich, the Glamour on Campus tour
manager, said that students from Southern
California might have an advantage over
contestants from other areas.
“There is no shortage of volunteer models
here,” Striebich said.
People in Southern California are
also generally very fashion conscience,
Striebich said.
The winner will be chosen based on poise,
style and attitude in front of the camera,
Striebich said.
The purpose of the event was to promote
the Glamour on Campus television show, which
airs on the College Television Network Mondays,
Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays, said Katie
Lang, merchandising editor for Glamour Magazine.
“The show is about beauty, fashion and university
lifestyle,” Lang said.
Lang, who lives in New York, is on the coast-to-coast
tour visiting different colleges and universities
promoting Glamour on Campus as well as the
various sponsors of the tour.
“We are giving away samples of cologne and
beauty products,” said Chad Griebel, a volunteer
working the event.
The fashion show featured clothes that were
donated by the tour’s sponsors and were
modeled by Cal State Long Beach students.
“[I did it] just for fun,” said Renee Araujl,
a former model and CSULB student.
