Albums
unworthy for student listeners

Eve
- Eve-olution, Ruff Ryder Records
Eve’s
new album is everything one would expect
from a mainstream rapper. An unnecessary
intro and a few skits water down a decent
record and nearly every song features another
artist. The song production is targeted
directly at radio and TRL. Eve’s rhymes
aren’t terrible, but she doesn’t say anything
that hasn’t been said before. The standout
tracks are “What” and “Satisfaction,” both
produced by Dr. Dre. The collaboration with
Snoop Dogg and Nate Dogg is a prime example
of everything this album is — average.
Mest
- Destination Unknown, Maverick Records
Mest
is like that bar band that has 10 songs
that all sound like a different band on
the radio except nowhere near as good. Bands
that are ripped off on this record are:
Blink-182, MXPX, Sublime, Sugar Ray, Lit,
Newfound Glory, Third Eye Blind and a slew
of others. People who go to the Warped tour
will think this record is groundbreaking.
Destination unknown? No. Destination used
bin? Yes. Boy band/pop-punk hybrids should
die a slow, painful death.
