  • New policy seeks to prevent student drinking
    Last fall Adrian Heideman, a freshman at Cal State Chico, died of alcohol poisoning while trying to drink an entire bottle of brandy at a fraternity party. This fall, a new policy will go into effect system wide to prevent deaths like Heideman's from happening again.

  • Recent U.C. fire raises concern
    Last week a fire ripped through the University of California Irvine science lab, injuring three and causing concern throughout the campus.

  • HIV prevention offered by Long Beach
    The city of Long Beach in conjunction with Cal State Long Beach provides HIV prevention and testing services for the whole community at little or no cost.

  • Henderson appointed to tobacco committee
    California Governor Gray Davis has appointed Dr. Alan Henderson, a Cal State Long Beach professor in the Health Science Department, as a member of the Tobacco Education and Research Oversight Committee.

  • Interstate 710 construction, burden for commuters
    The 2.5-mile stretch of Interstate 710 between Pacific Coast Highway  and Interstate 405 is the first of three renovation projects for the 20-mile span from PCH to San Bernardino, which began on March 25, 2001.

    The City of Long Beach welcomed the World Cup Dragon Boat Races to Marine Stadium on July 28 and 29, bringing over 72 racing teams from all over the world including China, Japan, the Philippines and Canada.

  • L.A. County Arts awarded grants
    The Long Beach Symphony Association, the Long Beach Museum of Art Foundation, the Camerata Singers of Long Beach and the Long Beach Opera are among 166 non-profit arts organizations in Los Angeles County to have been awarded grants by the Los Angeles County Arts Commission recently.
