Stokes finds greener
pastures in Georgia
Staff Reports
Rosa Stokes, women's
basketball associate head coach at Long Beach State, has been
named head coach at Georgia Southwestern State, according
to a LBSU Athletic Office press release.
Stokes had been
at LBSU for five years and leaves to take her first head coaching
postition. During her time with the 49ers, Stokes held the
duty of recruiting coordinator and was in charge of LBSU's
low post players.
"This opportunity
seemed like the right job at the right time," Stokes
said in the press release. "It's something I've been
training a long time for."
LBSU assistant
coach Tuonisia Turner will become Head Coach Dallas Bolla's
top assistant coach and will take over duties as recruiting
coordinator.
"Rosa has
helped us build the program to where it is now," Bolla
said in the press release. "I think she'll do very well.
She'll be missed."
Stokes is the second
49er assistant to leave the program this summer. Last month,
assistant coach Miranda Serna left to become a top assistant
coach at Chicago State.
