Ramsey leads LBSU
over UOP

The Long Beach
State women's basketball team broke its first place conference
tie with Pacific with a 91-77 victory over the Tigers Sunday,
forcing them into second place.
Ekuah Ramsey led
the team with 26 points, and starters Jackie Moore, Reta Sula,
Tamara Inoue, and Charel Bailey all scored in double digits.
After ending the
first half with the Tigers leading 41-40, the 49ers took control
of the court, shooting 62 percent in the second half and outscoring
the Tigers 51-36. Conversely, Pacific fell from a shooting
average of 50 percent in the first half to just 33 percent
in the second half.
Pacific fought
to keep ahead in the second half, going on a 10-2 run and
taking a 56-52 lead over LBSU with 12:48 remaining.
The Beach regained
control and the Tigers went scoreless for over four minutes
and the 49ers took a 62-56 lead.
The Tigers rallied
again with another run that placed them ahead 74-69 with 3:52
remaining, but the Beach ran ahead 7-0 to secure a victory.
LBSU improved to
15-10 overall and 10-2 in the Big West Conference, while Pacific
dropped to 18-9 overall and 9-3 in the Big West. Millie Kimpton
led the Tigers with 29 points and 10 rebounds.
The Beach faces
UC Santa Barbara, who is also tied for first, in an away game
on Saturday at 7 p.m.
