49er track earns
split

On-line Forty-Niner
Both men's and
women's Long Beach State track and field teams produced impressive
individual performances and recorded split results at Washington
State's triple meet on Saturday.
The LBSU men's
squad beat Boise State 95-41 but lost to Washington State
127-34. The 49er women also defeated BSU with a team score
of 82-70 while falling to WSU 127-34.
Senior Tayyiba
Haneef won the women's high jump with a mark of 5-8 3/4.
Other top performances
for the women include second place finishes for Meghan Atkinson
in the 400-meter dash (58.80 seconds), Shannon Livingston
in the long jump (17-4) and Christine Riel in the 5,000-meter
run.
Junior Chandler
White had a solid day for the LBSU men with a third place
finish in the 100 (10.81) and taking second in the 200 (22.56).
Kashus Perona took first in the 400 with a time of 48.13 while
Jason Dolison placed second (48.86).
In the men's field
events, Ryan Belida scored big points for LBSU by winning
both the long jump with a leap of 21-5 1/2 and the triple
jump with a mark of 46-5 1/4.
Belida's teammate
Patrick Turkson-Bekele also had a strong showing in the triple
jump at 45-7.
