What students
get from The Beach
I am so proud of Cal
State Long Beach. Over the past fifty years we have become a
great institution and a very desirable place to be. I would
like to take this opportunity to mention a few of the aspects
of The Beach that people might not know about.
I echo the sentiments
of President Robert Maxson, who said, "If all you do at CSULB
is go to class, you are not getting a complete education."
This is a college campus, but it is also a community, and
I urge everyone to get involved and discover more, not only
about the university, but also about themselves.
First of all, we
are here to learn. CSULB offers over 180 educational programs
to help students prepare for almost any career. We feature
a renowned and award-winning faculty that includes presidential
speechwriters, Grammy Award nominees, esteemed writers, and
more.
Classes average
a 20:1 ratio of students to teachers, offering more personal
attention and improving the learning process. Over 300 valedictorians
and National Merit Finalists have made CSULB their university
of choice.
Set on 324 acres
of beautiful land and only three miles from the beach, CSULB
boasts one of the largest campuses in the California State
University system. We feature a number of wonderful facilities
for students including; the art museum, the nation's most
advanced dance facility, The Pyramid, and the University Library,
which contains over one million resources for students to
peruse.
As for the campus
programs that help students expand their education, CSULB
features over 300 clubs and organizations to serve the interests
of every student. These organizations range from religious
groups to outdoor adventure clubs, and we also feature a Greek
system with over 30 fraternities and sororities.
CSULB is a wonderful
place, brimming with opportunities open to anyone willing
to reach out for them. I cannot think of anywhere else that
I'd rather be.
