Gift ideas for graduates

By Alexandria Sullivan
On-line Forty-Niner

As graduates begin to walk off the stage with their diplomas in hand, it comes time for that other part of the ceremony -- gifts.

If parents want to show their special students how proud they are of their achievements, traditional, expense or sentimental gifts can often do the trick.

Some traditional gifts would include a frame for their diploma or a leather portfolio for graduates to carry with them to those post-college job interviews.

If graduates deserve a really great gift, however, a car or laptop computer would achieve that goal. To completely surprise them, a trip to Europe would make their last free summer one to remember.

Sentimental gifts are a great way to help graduates remember their college years, like putting together a photo album full of snapshot memories of dorms, finals and parties. A fine piece of jewelry like a watch, a pair of earrings, or a bracelet would also bring a smile to almost any student.

If parents and family members are completely stumped for ideas and that graduate is extremely picky, money is always an option. Money can be used to pay off those pesky student loans, or to blow on a graduation celebration.

No matter what one gets that graduate on his or her special day, all that really matters is recognition of their achievements.
